“Our three nights were comfortable in the soft bed, with a shower I didn't want to get out of! The water is also so soft. A walk through the beautiful garden is a must. The views are beautiful. A wonderful stay with perfectly lovely hosts.”

“Hi Mary Ann, thanks for all your friendliness and helpful advice. We found the Old Cellar to be a lovely base for our birthday stay, set so picturesquely in this inviting countryside. It was great to discover The Holt (multiple stars from us!), the farm shop and restaurant, and the girls enjoyed the riding on Dartmoor and hill walking. We enjoyed stylish Lyme Regis and yesterday Sidmouth too. I’m sure there’s much more to explore, but our six days were hugely enjoyable.”

“What a magical place! We couldn’t have asked for a friendlier welcome and Mary Ann’s fish pie on the first night was just what we needed. Highly recommended! If you can bear to leave the grounds and fabulous views then The Holt, Honiton for fabulous supper and The Heron Farm for lovely al fresco lunches are recommended. David’s brewery tour was a fascinating diversion. Only one downside…. five days was too short a stay. We hope to return.”

“We have had a superb stay - Mary Ann and David could not have made us more welcome. This is a beautiful spot of Devon and the views from the garden are glorious. We enjoyed the brewery and gin tours and simply wandering around the myriad of paths in the garden. Recommend The Holt in Honiton as well as the Heron Farm and Vineyard for lunches. For local walks (dog friendly) Lamberts Castle and the Wellington Monument. Quaint beaches at Branscombe and Charmouth. Thank you for being perfect hosts and for serving delightful suppers…. we look forward to returning!”

“We have had the most wonderful time at the Old Cellar and felt very well taken care of. Highlights of our stay included a day in Lyme Regis where we had the fish platter at Hillside and can highly recommend, a walk along the coastal path from Branscombe beach to Beer, antiques in Honiton, a day on Dartmoor and otherwise we just enjoyed walking in the beautiful gardens here. We had brunch at Toast one day and our last evening meal at The Holt which was fantastic. Mary Ann’s tray bakes are not to be missed and we are looking forward to taking some Otter beer back to family and friends.”
